This is a rememberance of the loved ones that were in the wrong place, at the wrong time; shot and killed.

Dorwan Stoddard, 76, lay on top of his wife, Mavy, protecting her from the torrent of bullets. Mavy Stoddard thought her husband was hurting her by lying on top of her, not realizing that she'd been shot three times in the legs, Nowak said.

Dorwan Stoddard was fatally wounded, dying at the scene of the mass shooting that's left six dead and 14 injured

This article has been difficult to post, but I, along with all others; should give rememberance to everyone that was in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

My deepest sorrow and sympathy goes out to everyone that is saddened by this senseless murder of, and attempted murder of fellow human beings.

I'm glad that you found this article. I really don't know why it wasn't posted anywhere except for my column, but it is now, thank you for finding it. They are in a better place, and shall suffer no more of life's inhumanities.

How very sad. These were wonderful people who's lives were taken by a senseless act. I hope their wonderful lives continue in the hearts and minds of those who knew them and the fond memories grow with time.

There is a fact that is sending chills up and down my spine here. The 9 year old girl was born on 9/11/01 - a Hope baby......and a judge named Judge Roll. And Rep. Giffords is fighting for her life. Hope and a Judge died yesterday, and our government is trying to survive. I don't know what, if anything; this might mean. My mind is always analyzing something or other, just have to wait and see.

Lest we not forgot the three eldery people that died. He died protecting his wife. You have to really stop and think about that. His love must have run very deeply. And the other two elderly, not much was mentioned about them but I would say that their lives are of no less value then the others. The little girl, just wanting to see a represetative, a life lost before she had a chance to live. They judge, everthing I was able to read about him was positive. A young man, engaged to be married, his life just reaching a point of joy, gone. Gabby, seems from what I was able to find out about her, she was a moderate that really cared about the people that she represented. The wounded, they will never be the same again, no matter how they recover from their wounds....This situation is so sad on so many levels. I am not a religious man, but in my own way I wish them all, every bit of goodwill that I can send them.

Kavika,

Did you read page 2 of the article? It talks about the life of the elderly lady and the judge, along with Christina and Giffords aide. Yes, I have a vivid picture in my mind's eye of the husband laying on top of his wife, in an effort to save her life; while giving his own. My heart bleeds tears of blood for those left to mourn, but the deceased have gone home, never to be at the mercy of man's inhumanity ever again.

TDR, yes I did read it. Perhaps my post wasn't clear enough. I should have said more about what I was feeling. This is the first article that actually gave some information on the three elderly. Sorry that I wasn't very clear on this.

Kavika,

No problem. I just thought that maybe you had missed the second page. We are all still in shock here about this, and one only has to look into the eyes of the people here, and you will see their pain.

I can understand the ''state of shock'' that the people are in...I'm at a loss of words to even attempt to try to understand this situation.

Thanks for posting this TDR. I'm glad to read about who they were in life, rather than what they represent in death.

I'm perturbed by the fact that the news outlets aren't overrun by reports about those who died yesterday, and those who were injured. Thanks for posting this, TDR.

I'm just going to head to bed shaking my head that this has received so little attention, whilst the threads in reaction to the shootings themselves are overrun with hatred and vitriol.

TDR!

Found it! On the bottom tracker too! I am amazed! *grin*!

Thanks for posting this, TDR.

Maybe you and anyone else, may be of an age to have been old enough to recall the Kennedy brothers tragedy's. The country made it thru both, the country will make it thru this latest debacle.

My only hope, at least for the immediate future, at least, is everyone just take a step back and reflect on where the country has been these last couple of years, and the how, and the said, and the printed, and just take a step back from it all.

Remember these victims, their families, their friends, maybe none will have died as a footnote to someones raging hatred or fear.

There is so much hatred and anger amongst the people in this country. There is no one person or group responsible for the behavior in this country of today, we all are responsible for it in one way or another. Everyone in this country, without exception; needs to take a good look in the mirror and ask, who am I? Then, take a step back and reflect on who you are, and how man can stop destroying the humanity in this country, starting with oneself.

We are destroying ourselves!

That sentiment TDR, may be the first time I've seen it on the vine said so succinctly. And you're absolutely correct.

TDR, I just want you to know, we all fear the great state of Arizona and it's people may be getting painted with too wide of brushes in the days to come, but please, we all know it's going to be a damned inaccurate painting.

Thinking of you down there!

Thank you for your kind words, and we have been painted with a paint brush not of many colors, but that of red blood. Everyone needs to give pause for just a moment, this could have happened in their state or neighborhood. No one, nor any place in this country is exempt from this behavior. We, as a people must change our behavior, or else we will not survive.

TDR, thank you for posting this remembrance. Such an unspeakable tragedy! I've been glued to the news, just horrified and saddened. I'm praying that Rep. Giffords can fully recover, and the others who are injured as well. I am so sad for the families of the judge and others senselessly killed, and my heart absolutely breaks for the parents of that beautiful 9-year-old girl...born on Sept. 11, gives you chills thinking about it. Many years ago, I visited Tucson and really liked it, a wonderful, vibrant city. Now this tragedy will always be associated with Tucson and that's sad for everyone living there. This whole tragic event casts a somber veil over the entire country.
